How do I work on the business when it already sucks 60, 70, 80 + hours a week.

Way back around the late 1980’s, Neil Budgen was growing his business having just
bought out a primary client, Microlimit, which he ran alongside two other
acquisitions. Understanding he was out of his depth he engaged a “Marketing”
company to help him. They had some really great ideas, system, processes and the
team had great connections and helped with producing really top quality
marketing flyers, scripts etc.
However, their main contribution was the Marketing Plan. When this was completed
Neil was really impressed, but had one question which he put along the lines of.
“This is great – I can see exactly how and why it will work. But I have one
problem with it that I need your help with. It looks like it’ll need around 4-6
hours a week to implement – at least at the beginning. I’m currently working
90-100 hours a week and really struggling with that. I can’t – just can’t do any
more hours. So how can you help me implement your plan, which I value highly,
and do everything else I have to do?”
They were unable to offer any help in this area. Consequently, the plan was
never implemented - NOT because it was complicated, but because the real issue was
with Mr Budgen's time
