Whilst she has preferred to spend most of
her working life away from managerial positions, her activities within the
Labour Party have bought her managerial experience of a different kind. Dorothy
served as a member of the Board (Executive Committee) of the Greater London
Labour Party (GLLP) for over 15 years. She was also a member of the GLLP panels
who’s work included vetting candidates for elected office, including aspiring
MPs, MEP’s and Mayoral candidates.
Dorothy has also served as chair of the
Board’s finance sub-committee and as a representative for the GLLP on the London
Fire and Civil Defence Authority, the body responsible for approving London’s
Fire Service budget.
The Wellington (NZ) Labour Party
recognised her talents immediately and she was quickly elected as Branch Chair
of the Capitals Harbour Branch and Deputy Chair of Wellington Central, positions
she held throughout her 10 years in New Zealand.
