Here Anthony drove the company swiftly
onwards and upwards by establishing a European network of 32 outlets in Belgium,
France, Italy and Switzerland. Never one to rest on success Anthony moved on to
become the Commercial Director of Slazenger France. Here he increased sales of
tennis rackets alone from 22,000 to 78,000 in just one year. The next challenge
for Anthony was the then loss making Cartier Ltd. Using his exceptional
marketing and people skills he took the demoralised staff on a journey that saw
sales increase by 400% in just 5 years finishing as a market leader if not “the”
market leader in its field.
Anthony
was now interested in doing it for himself and went on to acquire Herbert
Johnson Ltd with the help of venture capital funds he had arranged.
Unsurprisingly sales and profits increased under his ownership. Within a few
years his own family business, Swindens Patents Ltd, needed his skills and
experience. It was a tough decision but he sold Herbert Johnson Ltd and started
his own business consultancy to fill the gap.
Anthony has, over the years, held various
other positions including non-executive directorships of The British Hospital of
Paris, Folkestone Racecourse PLC, Softwarefirst.com. While in France he served
as President of The Franco British Junior Chamber of Commerce. He was also been
engaged as the chairman of the Prince's Youth Business Trust, North & West
London for 3 years and one of their Business Advisers. He is an Elected Member
of the Institute of Management Consultants and the Chartered Institute of
Marketing
